It can always cause redness, peeling, dryness, and sensitivity to the sun. The difference between the concentrations used in the over the counter treatments for acne or wrinkles and chemical peels. It’s a difference of severity only. The same side effects are likely in either case. So you would be better off to be sure that you are taking care of your skin with a product frankly that did not run the same risks.
