Glycolic acid has been all the rage to some degree in acne treatments lately. They all talk about how effective it is, how great it is, and frankly how you can get greater benefits in general. The idea of glycolic acid is to basically get rid of dead skin cell buildup and bad layers of skin cells, basically allowing a new and glowing skin type to emerge among other things. it is made from sugar cane, and it is basically evens out skin tones ideally speaking while reducing wrinkles, getting rid of inflammation, etc. It has been used in several different strengths, and basically when you get up to strengths around those required for a chemical peel, you actually have to use a neutralizer directly after in order to avoid skin damage. It can always cause redness, peeling, dryness, and sensitivity to the sun. The difference between the concentrations used in the over the counter treatments for acne or wrinkles and chemical peels. It’s a difference of severity only. The same side effects are likely in either case. So you would be better off to be sure that you are taking care of your skin with a product frankly that did not run the same risks.
Glycolic Acid
September 4th, 2009Love Causing Aging
September 4th, 2009Sometimes I find that love ages you more. It’s supposed to help you to maintain more youthful skin, a healthier body, etc. But it’s not something you control, and you really can’t control who you fall in love with. This being said, there are plenty of rumors about people dying from a broken heart. But stress plays a big part in wrinkles and aging in general. So basically, when something happens that breaks your heart, sometimes when they’re sad or hurting, sometimes when they decide they don’t love you anymore, etc, obviously that puts people under quite a large amount of stress. And I’ve seen people actually lose significant amounts of weight, have a breakdown, and otherwise age about 10 years in the space of a very short period of time with that happening. It really takes a genuine kind of love, which doesn’t happen as often as we sometimes think. And frankly a lot of times relationships are stressful anyway with financial issues and everything else. But I wonder if it’s really a good thing in all reality sometimes.
Cosmetics, Cosmeceuticals, And Drugs
September 3rd, 2009I’ve never really thought there was a difference between cosmetics and a cosmeceutical, but obviously drugs are different. Drugs can of course be found over the counter or for that matter in prescription form. However, apparently shampoo is a cosmetic as is deodorant, toothpaste, makeup, and retinol. And some of those have been used to either reduce wrinkles or at least hide them. But apparently cosmeceutical isn’t even a valid description of anything. It doesn’t mean anything, so what you define as a cosmeceutical, well that’s really up to you. Drugs are meant to treat some existing problem. There are some prescription drugs that are meant to reduce wrinkles, but most of them are nothing more than antioxidants or products meant to repair the skin or help it to heal itself after surgery or some other major procedure. So realistically, to me at least, that’s not a wrinkle cream. So I have to wonder well most over the counter products are the same way, but is one really any better than the other? The difference is there are some cosmetics that actually do the job right and have the proven ingredients. I just wonder why the prescriptions don’t.
HGH & Wrinkles
September 1st, 2009There are some who have used HGH to actually reduce wrinkles. Back in the day, it was actually experimentally used on the aging to reduce all kinds of problems associated with aging reducing fat, increasing lean muscle mass, thickening skin, reducing wrinkles, eliminating age spots, you get the basic idea. In that capacity, HGH was proven to be extremely effective. But then they banned HGH for use except in the case of serious medical conditions. It’s not like botox where you just have to go into a doctor. You actually cannot get HGH unless you have a very specific problem and otherwise that most of us frankly won’t have. But people have continued to go for illegal HGH, and it continues to come with serious side effects that make it not worth it in some ways. But there are some supplements now that actually help the body to stimulate its natural HGH producing elements, and this is not actually unhealthy or dangerous, just effective if you get the right one. The trick is finding the right one as so many try to claim that they actually use artificial HGH and most just don’t use the right ingredients in general.
Roc Retinol Overview
September 1st, 2009Roc Retinol Correction Eye Cream is cheap, it’s affordable, it’s sold in CVS pharmacies across the country, and frankly it’s seen through TV commercials. So quite a few people automatically trust it, say well I might as well, especially in a tougher economy. Cheap is good right, and it comes from Johnson & Johnson, which is a huge conglomerate that obviously isn’t going away any time soon. Frankly, I’ve tried Roc products, I even combined them. I didn’t know any better, and realistically speaking when I saw greater skin problems when using them, I dropped them. But when I actually learned more about what to look for in wrinkle creams and so on in later years and then evaluated Roc products, it made more sense. They don’t have any actual skin benefitting or specific wrinkle fighting ingredients. So this means that obviously you really aren’t going to see results. But I also found quite a few harmful preservatives in there, which would definitely explain the greater skin damage I personally experienced. So it’s to the point where you really just shouldn’t use Roc Retinol products. They obviously aren’t worth the costs you are paying, and they won’t give you the benefits you are looking for. All in all, they are more likely to cause greater damage and premature aging in general.
Oily Or Wrinkled?
August 28th, 2009There is one thing I’ve noticed. Sometimes you complain about having oily skin, blotchy skin, etc, and it’s bad. I mean you always have grease all over, it really does get red and blotchy, and it’s hard to combine that with makeup even, because it seems to make a negative impact every time. However, if you’ve not noticed, those people who suffer through this oily skin and likewise most of the time don’t suffer through wrinkles for a while. It’s little consolation I realize. I mean red and oily skin, in some ways is worse than a few wrinkles earlier in life that you can work to prevent, and it definitely seems like a crisis right then, whether it actually is or not. Either way, it’s not something fun. But I get this because the skin so often loses moisture as you age. So if you have all that extra oil, obviously your skin isn’t really getting dry any time soon. It may lose some oil, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing for you. But it’s one of those things that with skin, it’s a trade off. It seems like you can’t just get the best of both worlds, your skin in the beginning chooses for you which one it wants to be.
Wheelchair Workouts
August 27th, 2009Some of the most impressive athletes I’ve seen were in wheelchairs. It seems strange. But honestly, they can get downright mean and competitive, and they’re good. I think it’s partly the challenge of most feeling they stand at some disadvantage, but it’s empowering when they can really get back in the game. Now if you’re hoping to dunk a basketball, chances are that isn’t going to happen. But frankly, beyond that, wow. Granted, I have my butt kicked on a regular basis by anybody. It doesn’t matter really, I’m not that great at basketball, volleyball, and I don’t really bother in general. Now if I got my butt kicked in rugby or football, I would be more frustrated. But the whole tackling and all of that would be far more interesting with a wheelchair I must say. That being said, if you are in a wheelchair, what I’m saying is don’t let that stop you from these kinds of things. Many think that they will become obese and otherwise if they can’t do that. But the fact is that there are still so many exercises available, still diet is always available, you get the basic idea. It’s a matter of putting your mind to it and really there are various options that open up.
Taking Care Of Your Skin
August 25th, 2009In order to have beautiful and healthy skin, there are a few basic things to do. First, maintain your diet. If you gain and lose weight, it will stretch out your skin, and over time, your skin will not actually bounce back. Second, be sure to use moisturizers and sunscreen. These will protect your skin from the sun of course while maintaining it and no allowing the elements to get to it at the same rate as it might have otherwise. Third, and almost most importantly, stop smoking. Smoking will actually cause of course the blood vessels to restrict and other problems in general to happen. Next, turn down your heat, use your air conditioner, and get a humidifier. Higher temperatures in your home in general will cause greater problems as a whole and your skin may become dry, parched, and restricted. And finally, remove makeup before workouts and before bed. If you cleanse on a regular basis, this of course helps too. But the simple reality is that quite frankly these can clog your pores, and if combined with the sweat and otherwise of exercise, it just makes it worse. So wash your face, remember to remove your makeup, and otherwise you can take care of your skin at a more exponential rate in general terms.
Carboxy Therapy
August 24th, 2009Carboxy therapy has been used in many ways to reduce wrinkles and otherwise get the results you want in also reducing scars, discolorations, and otherwise. It is very popular in Europe and South America, and it’s used in the treatment of skin aging. The long term results are based on exercise, diet, nutritional supplements, and otherwise a healthy lifestyle in general. Essentially speaking, as the skin thins and ages, fats, fluids, and toxins get trapped in the skin causing cellulite, causing wrinkles, etc. But they inject carbon dioxide into the skin below the surface with a fine needle. It stimulates collagen production in the process, and it can help you to achieve other results. It can be used on any part of the body, and they say it provides a certain amount of skin rejuvenation in general. it interacts with the normal metabolism in the human body, and they recommend 15 20 minute sessions in order to eliminate cellulite or other periods of time depending on what you actually want to achieve in general terms. It has led the skin to apparently become thicker over time, and it has also been used to treat diabetic ulcers, psoriasis, and erectile dysfunction.
Repairing Sun Damage
August 22nd, 2009If you want to repair sun damage, well the best thing is not to sustain that sun damage in the first place. However, if it’s already too late, which happens to the best of us, you can do something to reverse that sun damage to some degree. You won’t reverse any wrinkles that have already developed. However, you will be able to reverse some sun damage, which is more serious in the long run to be honest, and you can prevent more premature wrinkles from developing in general terms. This you can do by first of all using antioxidants and second of all using moisturizers. You won’t prevent actual aging in general, just premature aging, and frankly you won’t actually help yourself in other ways to reduce wrinkles that have already occurred. However, moisturized and antioxidant hit skin is brighter skin, more luminous skin, smoother skin, and otherwise less sun damaged skin. So while we would definitely prefer that you not sustain the skin damage in the first place, there are certainly ways to reverse it and otherwise deal with it in general terms. It is more of a matter of being prepared than anything else.
